Description
Wein- und Sektkellerei Inführ has produced sparkling wine at Klosterneuburg for more than a century and ranks among the most decorated Sekt houses in Austria. This rosé takes lightly pressed Zweigelt, the country's most planted red variety, and runs the second fermentation in pressurised tanks by the Charmat method. Working under tank rather than in bottle keeps the primary red fruit and floral character of the grape clear and unmasked, and the wine carries around 18 grams per litre of residual sugar, placing it in dry territory once the acidity is accounted for.
The colour is a delicate salmon pink with a fine, persistent bead. The nose leads on wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, with a touch of citrus zest and a light floral note behind. The palate is fruity yet balanced, with fresh acidity carrying through to a mineral finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and sits happily beside salmon tartare, fresh goat's cheese or a berry dessert.
