Description
Wein- und Sektkellerei Inführ at Klosterneuburg is best known for its Sekt, but its Frucht range turns the same sparkling technique to fruit. This bottling is made from selected apricots rather than grapes, carrying the fine bead and freshness of a sparkling wine alongside the ripe sweetness of the fruit. At a gentle 5.5% alcohol and around 65 grams per litre of residual sugar it is firmly in sweet, easy-drinking territory, a summer aperitif and celebration pour rather than a serious table wine.
The colour is a bright golden yellow. The nose is intense and fruity, led by ripe apricot with a lift of citrus that keeps it fresh. The palate is soft and sweet, the apricot flavour carried on a fine, tangy bead, with a long fruity finish and a subtle citrus edge. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees. It works as an aperitif, alongside fruit desserts such as tartlets, fruit salad or sorbet, and with lighter plates like grilled vegetables.
