Description
Wein- und Sektkellerei Inführ at Klosterneuburg has more than a century of Sekt behind it. Brut Excellent is a single-variety wine built entirely from Grüner Veltliner, with base wine drawn mainly from loess soils in the north-eastern Weinviertel, a region known for fruity white wines and its deep cellar tunnels. Those cool, stable cellars give ideal conditions for maturing the base wine and lend the finished Sekt its structure and balance. The second fermentation is carried out by the Charmat method in pressurised tanks to bring out the fruity, spicy character of the grape, and the extra dark bottle protects the wine from light. The dosage is set to Brut for a dry finish.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, lively mousse. The nose leads on juicy apple and pineapple with a lift of white flowers and the subtle pepper typical of Grüner Veltliner. The palate is fine and dry, with elegant freshness and a mineral close. Serve well chilled below 6 degrees and drink young to catch the fruit at its brightest, ideally from a tulip-shaped glass. It suits an aperitif, cold starters, fish, seafood, vegetarian plates and lightly spiced Asian dishes.
