Description
Wein- und Sektkellerei Inführ at Klosterneuburg has more than a hundred years behind it and is among the most awarded sparkling wine producers in Austria. This bottling follows the Pétillant Naturel or rural method, an old approach in which the base must is turned into sparkling wine in a single fermentation, the yeast converting the grape's own sugar into carbon dioxide and alcohol under controlled pressure. The wine is then filtered clear, so it keeps a clean, direct flavour without the cloudiness that PetNat can carry. The grape is Grüner Veltliner and the wine is very dry at around 6 grams per litre of residual sugar.
The colour is a pale, light green. The nose and palate are intense for the style, with green apple, lime and pear supported by a faint doughy note from the yeast and the peppery signature typical of Grüner Veltliner. The bead is fine and the finish long and dry. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees as an aperitif. It suits fresh salads, white fish and lighter shellfish.
