At six years and this proof it is a raw, high-intensity bottling rather than a polished older release, aimed at drinkers who want the spirit close to the cask.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood, the nose carries nutmeg, cardamom, honey and a syrupy richness, with dried fruit, honey, a fierce bite and wood on the palate, finishing warm, bitter, fruity and woody. The spice and honey give it character, but at 69 percent the alcohol drives hard and water is all but essential to tame it.
