Description
A traditional hierbas liqueur from Tunel on the Balearic island of Mallorca, made by Antonio Nadal from a selection of local herbs and plants in the macerated style, where herbs such as lemon herb, coriander, mint, marjoram, camomile and fennel are soaked in alcohol to draw out their flavour before filtering. This is the Dulces, the sweet expression of the hierbas category, anise and Mediterranean herbs being the signature of the style. At 22% it sits in the mid range, built for sipping.
The nose is intense aniseed meeting fresh sweet herbs such as fennel, lemon herb and mint with delicate floral accents, the palate sweet and harmonious with a soft texture, anise, fennel and camomile merging with citrus freshness, finishing long, smooth and herbal with a hint of sweetness. In a drink it adds anise, herbal lift and sweetness, so it can sweeten and aromatise a herbal spritz or long serve, though it is best enjoyed neat or on ice as a digestif. It pairs with almond cake or honey cream. Serve well chilled.
