Description
Henkell Halbtrocken is the medium dry counterpart to the house Trocken, made from an international cuvée of white grapes led by Chardonnay and Weissburgunder. The wine is fermented cool in stainless steel and given its sparkle by the tank method, which keeps the fruit fresh and the mousse fine, then finished at a halbtrocken dosage so that a little more sweetness rounds out the palate for those who prefer a softer style. Reserve wines are blended in to hold the house profile steady from year to year.
The colour is a pale straw with a lively bead. Ripe apple, pear and a touch of white peach lead the nose over a light floral note and a hint of honey, and the palate is fresh and fruity with a soft, medium dry finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees as an aperitif or alongside pudding. It pairs with fruit based desserts, lighter salads and mild white fish, and the small bottle makes an easy single serve.
