Description
Henkell is one of Europe's best-known sparkling wine houses, based at Wiesbaden in Germany with more than 160 years behind it. Henkell Trocken is its flagship dry Sekt, made from a carefully composed cuvée of selected white wines that give it fine fruit and a harmonious structure. It is produced by the Méthode Charmat, the second fermentation carried out in pressurised tanks, a method that gives fine, long-lasting bubbles and keeps the fresh, lively interplay of aromas. A few months on the fine lees add a little structure and a creamy edge to the mousse, and the dosage is set to a dry Trocken finish.
The colour is a light golden yellow with a fine, even bead. The nose brings green apple, pear and citrus over a light floral lift. The palate is fresh and balanced, the fruit set against clean acidity, with a fine, creamy mousse and a tangy, harmonious finish. Serve well chilled at 5 to 7 degrees. It makes a versatile aperitif and suits light starters, fish, seafood, white meat and mild cheese.
