Description
Henkell has produced Sekt in Wiesbaden since 1856 and Trocken is its best-known wine, a consistent dry sparkler blended from international base wines. It is made by the tank method, with the second fermentation carried out in pressure tanks rather than bottle, which keeps the fruit fresh and the style light and immediate. Trocken indicates a dry finish with a little more dosage than Brut. This trio of Piccolo bottles offers the wine in single-serve format, handy for a party or a picnic.
The wine is a pale straw yellow with a brisk, fine bead. The nose is fresh and direct, showing apple, pear and lemon over a light floral note. The palate is dry and crisp, the fruit clean and the mousse lively into a short, refreshing finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a flute. It works as an aperitif and alongside salads, white fish and shellfish, and slips easily into a celebration.
