Description
Helmut Wermut Helmut Rum (Vermouth Finish) is an eight year old Dominican rum finished in vermouth casks by the German vermouth maker Helmut Wermut. The vermouth finish is the distinguishing feature, a less common cask choice that brings botanical and herbal character to the glass.
Column distilled from molasses and aged in ex-bourbon before the finish, and bottled at 40%, it should keep the soft Dominican base of vanilla and caramel while the vermouth wood adds bitter herbs, dried fruit and an aromatic, wine-tinged edge. An approachable, easygoing ron with a distinctive twist rather than a heavy, spirit-forward style.
