Hatozaki Small Batch

Hatozaki Small Batch is a blended malt from Kaikyo Distillery in Akashi, Hyogo, bottled at 46% and released for the German market. As a small-batch expression it draws on a limited number of casks, giving the production team flexibility to select barrels that best represent the house's character in a given year.

The maturation is built on Ex-Bourbon casks, which are the primary wood type across Kaikyo's Hatozaki range and which deliver the vanilla, orchard fruit and light honeyed notes typical of American oak ageing. No cask finish is noted for this release. In keeping with Kaikyo's profile, the spirit sits in a fresh, fruit-forward register at 46%, with the bourbon barrel providing structure and a gentle sweetness over the distillery's clean, approachable new-make character.
