Cask ageing turns this Norwegian gin amber and gives it real heft: spicy juniper meets vanilla, dried figs and dates over a gentle smoky oak. Built on wild botanicals from the Norwegian fells, rhubarb and bilberries among them, then rested in sherry and brandy casks. Long, warming and almost whisky-adjacent.

Description
Harahorn is made by Det Norske Brenneri, a small independent distillery drawing on botanicals from the Norwegian wilderness, juniper, rhubarb, bilberries and angelica giving the spirit a deep, fruity complexity. For this Cask Aged release they rest the gin in sherry and brandy barrels, which lend soft vanilla, caramel and a faint curl of smoke, and turn the colour to golden amber with coppery lights.
The nose is juniper and dark berries over oak, sherry sweetness and dried fruit. The palate is spicy juniper laced with vanilla, dried figs, dates and rhubarb, gentle wood and a hint of citrus, while the finish runs long and harmonious, lightly smoky with fruity sweetness, caramel and a spicy oak structure. Sip it neat over ice, or build it into a Negroni with a sherry twist.
