A tropically aged Worthy Park from Habitation Velier, eleven years in ex-bourbon oak at full proof, pairing banana, tropical fruit and clean ester funk with assertive wood, a Pure Single Jamaican rum at 57.5%.
Description
Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths WPM 2006 is a Pure Single Rum, the Velier line built to showcase pot-still distillate from a single distillery with no additives, no added sugar and no colouring. Worthy Park is the precise, clean-running Jamaican house, and the WPM marque sits in its medium-ester band, so the funk here is bright and structured rather than the extreme solvent end of the island. The Forsyths name nods to the Scottish double-retort pot still at the estate, used on early bottlings before the Worthy Park name was cleared for the labels.
Distilled in 2006 and aged eleven years in the Jamaican heat in ex-bourbon casks, it reads as ripe banana and tropical fruit over esters and vanilla, with wood turning assertive and roasted through the finish. Tropical maturation packs real oak depth into the years, and at full 57.5% the spirit is concentrated but coherent. It is a fine reference Worthy Park for anyone who enjoys characterful Jamaica and wants a drier, oakier, more wood-driven cut of it.
