Grey Goose distils in the Cognac region of France and built its name on a soft, wheat-led house style. The Essences line takes that base spirit and infuses it with natural fruit and botanical essences, with no added sugar, so the flavour reads as aroma rather than syrup. Here, sun-ripened strawberry supplies the fruit while lemongrass brings a citrusy, slightly grassy edge that keeps the profile structured. Reducing to 30% by volume softens the alcohol and lets those delicate notes carry, which is exactly the point of a vodka designed to be mixed long.
The nose leads with fresh strawberry over a citrus and herbal lemongrass note. The palate is light and clean, juicy strawberry up front, a tart lemongrass freshness behind it, and a clear vodka base underneath. It finishes fresh and dry rather than cloying. Build it into a tall spritz: 50ml over ice in a wine glass, topped with chilled soda and a splash of dry sparkling wine, with a halved strawberry and a bruised lemongrass stalk to echo both flavours in the glass.
