Description
Grave Digger Berry Metal Liqueur is a limited edition fruit liqueur produced by St. Kilian Distillers, the German single malt distillery in Ruedenau, made as a tribute to the German heavy metal band Grave Digger. Bottled at a notably high 40% for a berry liqueur, it carries intense wild berry flavours at a strength well above the party fruit liqueur norm, which gives the fruit a spirit driven backbone.
The nose is dark wild berries, blackcurrant and ripe cherry underlaid with a hint of herbal spice, the palate powerful, fruity and slightly sweet with a clear berry aroma, a touch of acidity and noticeable alcohol, the finish medium with a slightly bitter note and warm depth. The high strength is the selling point for a buyer: the fruit holds up in a mix where a 15% liqueur would wash out. Best served neat and well chilled, or as a powerful shot, it also opens up over ice or lengthened with tonic or ginger ale, where the berry and herbal notes carry the dilution.
