Claxton's Single Cask line presents bottlings at natural strength under direct cask identification, with this dual cask reference (1854 - 1563C) signalling either a transfer from one cask to another during maturation or the simultaneous use of two related casks in the bottling. The Yorkshire based bottler operates with a focus on cask quality and transparent provenance. This Glenrothes 11 Years Old, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2018 at 56.6%, was released into the Netherlands market.

A primary refill bourbon maturation followed by a Pedro Ximenez finishing transfer layers two distinct cask signatures onto the spirit. The bourbon foundation contributes American oak's vanillin, lactones and ellagitannin chemistry across the majority of the maturation, while the closing PX transfer concentrates residual sherry residue: oxidised glucose, fructose and aldehydes from solera ageing. The 56.6% strength reflects measured warehousing through both cask stages.

On the nose, vanilla pod and honey sit with raisin and a developing PX sweetness, the dual cask signature interleaving across the maturation stages. The palate moves through cooked pear, fig and dark chocolate, the 56.6% strength delivering both cask chemistries without overwhelming the spirit. The finish runs medium long with European oak grip from the PX finishing closing around the bourbon cask's softer signature.
