This Glenrothes 10 Years Old sits alongside The Daily Dram's Palo Cortado release from the same 2012 distillation, presenting the same distillate matured in straight Oloroso wood rather than the more unusual Palo Cortado route. The Daily Dram is one of The Nectar's bottling labels, the Belgian indie partnership run by Mario Groteklaes and Jan van den Ende. This release was bottled in 2022 at 57.5% from Oloroso casks for the Netherlands market.

Ten years in Oloroso casks produces a classically sherried profile, with the cask's first fill activity well developed and European oak tannin contribution accumulating at productive levels. The residual oxidised sherry residue transfers fully to the spirit, while lignin's breakdown contributes vanillin and syringaldehyde and hemicellulose's furfural chemistry builds in the background. The 57.5% strength sits comfortably in the cask's productive window, delivering the wood's character without softening.

The nose lifts raisin and fig with polished oak underneath, the cask's first fill sherry signature clearly forward. The palate moves through dark chocolate, dried prune and a developing leathery quality as rancio begins to emerge, the 57.5% strength delivering the cask's depth without astringency. The finish is medium long and gently tannic, the European oak's grip framing the spirit's Speyside character against the cask's accumulated chemistry.
