Description
A 13 year old Glendullan from Gordon and MacPhail, distilled in 2007, from cask 316718, at 58%, one of 212 bottles. Glendullan is a Speyside single malt known for a green, grassy, lightly fruity style. It runs long fermentations and a slow distillation for a green, grassy, lightly fruity spirit. It was the last of the Dufftown stills, the town said to stand on seven stills as Rome stands on seven hills.
Run slowly off the spirit still, for a clean, grassy make with a fruity lift. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the fruit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend a riper orchard and tropical fruit. The fresh, fruity spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a soft honey. A light, clean texture from the spirit carries through the maturation. Active wood frames the fruit without ever crowding the light Speyside spirit.
At a hearty 58% it carries real weight. A fresh orchard fruit and a malty sweetness, lifted by a soft oak. Melon, pear and a soft honey fill the middle. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
