This Glendullan was bottled by James Eadie, an 11 year old, distilled in 2011, from cask 367834, at 55.8%, one of 320 bottles. Glendullan is a Speyside single malt, long a blending malt and now a name in its own right. It was the last of the Dufftown stills, the town said to stand on seven stills as Rome stands on seven hills. A second distillery was built alongside the original in 1972, the two running together until the old plant closed in 1985.

Run slowly off the spirit still, giving a fresh, lightly fruity Speyside spirit. It was matured in a Malaga cask, the wood working into the fruity malt. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the pear softening towards a creamy honey. Maturation runs slow and even in the warehouses at Dufftown. First fill wood drives the maturation, the cask clear in the light spirit. A light, clean texture from the spirit carries through the maturation.

At 55.8%, undiluted, it is rich and fruity. Pear, citrus and a soft barley, with a raisined, grapey sweetness from the cask. The mouthfeel is light and clean, carrying the fruit. A medium finish carries a soft honey. This is the lightly fruity malt of Dufftown.
