The most recent of the Madeira Cask Finish single casks here, RC 1313 was bottled in 2025 for the European market. It is a blended Irish whiskey rather than a single malt, richer spirit married with lighter grain in the usual Irish manner, then given the full single cask finishing treatment by Glendalough, the bonding house of Co. Wicklow.
Ex-Bourbon maturation set down vanilla, toffee and soft cereal sweetness before the finishing cask went to work. Madeira wood typically brings walnut, dried fig and a caramelised, faintly saline richness, and at 42% those flavours sit on a smooth, grain lightened body that keeps the whole thing gentle. No age is stated, in keeping with the series, and the appeal is the cask work itself, a small parcel of easy drinking whiskey with a fortified wine glow.
