Description
Glendalough made its name on adventurous cask work, and the 7 Years Old Mizunara finish is its signature, sourced Irish single malt finished by the Wicklow bonder in rare Japanese oak puncheons. This is Batch 001, released globally in 2022, the opening run of what became a recurring series.
Seven years in ex-bourbon casks set up honey, vanilla and orchard fruit before the Mizunara wood contributes sandalwood, dark chocolate and an exotic, temple incense spice. Bottled at 46%, it stays silky rather than oaky, the Japanese oak used as seasoning rather than the whole meal.
