Glendalough, the Wicklow bonder named for the valley of two lakes, was the first Irish label to finish whiskey in Japanese Mizunara oak, and this 17 Years Old single malt extends that signature to serious age. It is a single cask release, cask 6/12, drawn from mature sourced Irish malt and bottled for the Netherlands in an edition of 700 bottles.

The whiskey spent its long primary maturation in ex-bourbon barrels before a finishing spell in Mizunara, the rare and famously porous Japanese oak prized for its perfume. Over a bourbon cask base of vanilla, honey and ripe orchard fruit, the Mizunara layers sandalwood, incense, coconut and soft clove, a register Irish malt almost never shows. Bottled at 46%, it keeps a polished, gently waxy texture and a long finish on fragrant oak.
