Description
An 18 year old Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, from 2002, at 55.9%, 276 bottles in all. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Finished in a Sauternes cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the apple turning honeyed and a soft dried fruit creeping in. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time.
At cask strength 55.9% it is full bodied. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with honeyed apricot and a candied citrus from the cask. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
