Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, an 18 year old, distilled in 2006, from cask 72007, bottled at 54.8%, one of 540 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.
The spirit was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. It was finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood layered over the light malt. Into oxidative maturity, slow air ingress builds fruity ethyl esters (apple and pear) and a honeyed depth. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady.
At a hearty 54.8% it carries real weight. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
