Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, a 9 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 5245/57, bottled at 48%, one of 4000 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.
Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady.
Bottled at a cask strength 48%, it is rich. A light, orchard fruit and toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
