From the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, a 15 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2007, from cask 5878-5879-5880, bottled at 57.9%, one of 586 bottles. Glen Moray, founded in 1897 in a former brewery, is one of Speyside's best loved malts. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.

It was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. A Port cask shaped the finish, over the fruity Glen Moray spirit. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way.

At a hearty 57.9% it carries real weight. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
