Description
An official release of Glen Moray, at 40%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.
The spirit was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. Most Glen Moray begins in American oak ex-Bourbon, the base for its cask finishes. With no age statement, the oak has given vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over the light, fruity spirit. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is an approachable Speyside single malt from Elgin.
