This official Glen Moray, a 25 year old, from 1987, cask Batch 2, at 43%, 3295 bottles in all. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

It was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Finished in a Port cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend a drying structure while oxidation builds a richer, dried fruit. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.

Bottled at 43%, it is rounded. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is Glen Moray, a pioneer of cask finishing.
