Description
This official Glen Moray, at 48%. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
The spirit was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Carrying no age, soft vanillin (vanilla) and a green apple suggest a fair spell in cask. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt.
At 48%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
