Description
Glen Moray from the distillery, an 8 year old, at 43%. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
Distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.
At 43% it is light and soft. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
