An official release of Glen Moray, a 5 year old, cask 169, at 48%. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

It was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.

Bottled at a cask strength 48%, it is rich. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray, a pioneer of cask finishing.
