The Campbeltown house Cadenhead bottled this Glen Moray, a 25 year old, distilled in 1991, bottled at 55.8%, one of 240 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried fruit, honey and a waxy depth over the apple. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt.

At a natural 55.8% it is full and fruity. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray, a pioneer of cask finishing.
