A 25 year old Glen Moray from the bottler Sansibar, distilled in 1991, bottled at 50.9%, one of 296 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.

It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried fruit, honey and a waxy depth over the apple. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.

At its natural 50.9% it is concentrated. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
