Description
An official release of Glen Moray, an 18 year old, at 47.2%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.
Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the apple turning honeyed and a soft dried fruit creeping in. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
At a natural 47.2% it is full and fruity. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
