Description
A Glen Moray of a 13 year old chosen by the bottler Liquid Art, distilled in 2007, bottled at 49.6%, one of 94 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
Made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.
At a hearty 49.6% it carries real weight. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
