Description
An 11 year old Glen Moray from the bottler TnT-Casks, distilled in 2012, from cask TNT 800488, bottled at 56.3%, one of 208 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.
Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the body softer and the fruit riper. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
At a hearty 56.3% it carries real weight. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
