Description
This Glen Keith was bottled by the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, a 30 year old, distilled in 1994, from cask 166305, bottled at 52.7%, one of 136 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt known for a light, sweet, fruity character. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers.
Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Keith style. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Ethereal and fragile, decades draw the light malt to a honeyed, waxy delicacy of sotolon, tropical fruit and old oak. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It was the first distillery in Scotland to use gas fired direct heating. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and tropical fruit. Much of the Glen Keith make went to the blenders, a little kept as single malt.
At 52.7%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. A light, orchard fruit and citrus, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
