Description
A 20 year old Glen Keith from the Dutch bottler van Wees, distilled in 1997, from cask 72579, bottled at 55.7%, one of 285 bottles. Glen Keith is a clean, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Keith in Moray. It was Seagram's experimental plant, and still houses the Chivas Brothers lab.
It was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, building the fresh Glen Keith style. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. At oxidative maturity aldehydes lend a nutty edge while ellagitannins add a gentle, drying grip over the fruit. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and tropical fruit. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Keith warehouses. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt.
At 55.7%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Keith, Seagram's experimental Speyside malt.
