Description
The bottler Whiskymax bottled this Glen Keith, an 18 year old, distilled in 1993, from cask 97133, bottled at 56.3%, one of 300 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Keith, the first new Speyside distillery since the 1898 crash. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit.
It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Keith style. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Its make went largely into the Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers blends. The clean, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear.
At its natural 56.3% it is concentrated. A light, orchard fruit and citrus, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the Chivas stable.
