Description
Fuji Gotemba Distiller's Select 2017 is a NAS single grain whisky from Kirin's Fuji Gotemba distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, bottled in 2017 at cask strength for the French market in a 500 ml format. The Distiller's Select releases are distillery-selected expressions designed to showcase Fuji Gotemba's grain production at its most direct and undiluted.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky carries the vanilla and light tropical fruit character typical of American oak at work on a clean grain distillate. No specific flavour profile was declared, but the Fuji Gotemba house grain style tends toward precision and softness, with gentle sweetness and cereal definition. At cask strength, the texture is more concentrated and the oak influence direct, rewarding a small addition of water to open the expression fully.
