Description
Franzi Franzbrotchen Likor in its gift box with socks is a German cream liqueur bottled at 15%, made by Nork as a liquid take on the famous Hamburg Franzbrotchen, the city's caramelised cinnamon pastry. Billed as the first Franzbrotchen liqueur, it folds the pastry's cinnamon and caramel character into a creamy, velvety texture, so the bakery flavour reads through a soft, sweet base. The novelty gift presentation makes it a hosting and gifting set as much as a back bar pour.
The nose is sweet and inviting with cinnamon, caramelised sugar, buttery biscuits and fine vanilla, the palate creamy and full bodied with cinnamon, caramel, butter, pastry notes and a subtle vanilla sweetness, finishing soft and dessert like, sweet and spicy with cinnamon and caramel and pleasantly long. Behind the bar it works as a dessert and body ingredient, adding cinnamon sweetness, caramel and a creamy texture, which suits it to a spiced dessert martini, a stir into coffee or a pour over vanilla ice cream. It pairs with apple strudel, cinnamon buns and waffles, and works as a sweet digestif. As a cream liqueur it is a dairy product once opened, so keep it cool and use it reasonably fresh.
