Fishing Vodka Blue

Fishing Vodka Blue comes from the CARAT Distillery in Slovakia and shares its make with the red bottling, only with a cooler, sea-themed design. It is distilled multiple times from selected grain, with each run stripping more congeners to leave a neutral, mild spirit, and the water used is specially filtered so the texture stays smooth and clean. Grain gives it a soft, even backbone, and a subtle saline note runs underneath. It bottles at a full 40%, clear and barely sharp.

The nose is mild and pure with light cereal and a touch of mineral, the palate is soft, balanced and gently cereal, and the finish is clear and medium length with almost no bite. That faint saltiness is worth leaning into, so serve it as a well-chilled shot straight from the freezer alongside smoked fish or briny snacks. The cold tightens the texture and the saline edge sits naturally against pickled herring or oysters, which is the kind of pairing the maritime theme is reaching for in the first place.
