Firestarter Vodka

Firestarter Vodka is produced in Moldova at the Colusvin distillery and dressed in a striking fire-extinguisher bottle. The base is winter wheat, and wheat is a deliberate choice: it ferments into a spirit with a soft, rounded mouthfeel that reads as gentle on the palate. After distillation, the spirit is filtered five times, a step that removes rougher compounds and is the reason for its clean, mild feel. It is bottled at 40%. Beyond the liquid, the brand donates a portion of every sale to a firefighters' fund, which gives the playful packaging a genuine purpose.

The nose is clearly cereal with a subtle sweetness and a faint spice. The palate is smooth and mild with a clear winter-wheat note, light sweetness and a gentle spice, and the finish is long with a pleasant warmth. Its soft wheat body and clean profile make it a reliable Bloody Mary base, so build one over ice with tomato juice, fresh lemon, Worcestershire, a pinch of celery salt and a celery stalk, where the smooth spirit supports the spice without fighting it.
