A cask strength multi country blend from Famille Ricci at 54.1% and around fourteen years, showing a clear Port Mourant streak of tropical fruit, pineapple and cocoa lifted by a minty, peppery, spiced finish.
Description
Famille Ricci assembles characterful blends for tasting, and this Unique Blend No. 2 marries rums averaging fourteen and a half years into a cask strength bottling at 54.1%. It lands in a satisfying middle ground, distinctive and fruit driven without tipping into a brutal high ester beast.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, the blend carries a clear Demerara personality, the cool minty signature of Port Mourant running through bright tropical fruit, pineapple, peach and cocoa, with bitter orange and florals on the nose. The finish turns woody and peppery with that persistent mint. There is no declared sweetening, and at full proof it shows its fruit and structure plainly, a layered sipper that rewards air in the glass and suits drinkers who like personality kept just short of extreme.
