Famille Ricci Quintessence 2024 is an ambitious blend drawing together aged rums from several countries, with components stretching across a wide span and an average age north of twenty one years. Bottled at 55% by Famille Ricci, it is a showcase of breadth, marrying very old stocks into a single layered expression.

Matured in ex bourbon casks, it opens fruity and sweet with butterscotch and a lick of allspice. The palate is where the blend shows its range, blackcurrant, yellow orchard fruit and ripe pineapple jostling together, with a Trinidad style backbone of confected fruit and a faint floral, vegetal lift. The finish brings young wood and lingering fruit. It is a rum that rewards slow sipping, opening in different directions as it sits, and the strength gives it body without harshness.
