Esbjaerg pairs a Danish recipe with Dutch distilling at the Boomsma Distillery, which has over 125 years of history. It is made from wheat and filtered through charcoal, a step that pulls out impurities and smooths the spirit. The payoff is a soft, full-bodied vodka with a quiet citrus edge.

Description
Esbjaerg is produced at the Boomsma Distillery in the Netherlands, a house with more than 125 years of distilling behind it, working to an original Danish recipe. The base is wheat, which lends a soft, full mouthfeel, and the spirit is then filtered through charcoal. That filtration matters: activated charcoal traps fusel oils and other impurities, leaving the vodka milder and cleaner without thinning its body. Bottled at 40% by volume, it is a straightforward, well-made everyday spirit that puts process ahead of packaging.
The nose is mild with a clear structure. The palate is soft and full-bodied with a silky feel and a quiet note of citrus, running to a long finish. Its clean body and faint lemon edge make it a natural for a Vodka Tonic: 50ml over plenty of ice, topped with a good tonic and a wide strip of lemon peel squeezed over the top, the charcoal-smoothed spirit keeping the drink crisp rather than sharp.
