Off the Enmore wooden Coffey still, this 1990 Bar Lamp release is a twenty-five year old single cask at 54.2 percent, deceptively mild on the nose before coffee, roasted notes, brown sugar and black tea fill a long cocoa-and-toffee finish.
Description
This Enmore 1990 was bottled at twenty-five years old and cask strength, 54.2 percent, a single cask carrying the VSG marque and tied to the Enmore site, home of the world's last operating wooden Coffey still. It is a deeply aged, unsweetened Guyanese rum where long maturation has rounded the heritage-still character without dulling it.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood, the nose is gentle and sweet, mild and light with anise, before the palate opens into coffee, roasted notes, brown sugar and black tea, finishing long on cocoa, coffee, cream toffee and a soft texture. The quarter-century in barrel has layered rich roasted depth over the elegant wooden-Coffey base. At full proof it stays composed and smooth rather than fierce, a refined and well-aged Enmore where the wood, coffee and cocoa carry a long, soft close.
