Description
El Jolgorio Mezcal Especial Coyote is a joven first released in 2017 within the brand's black bottle Especial line of wild agave mezcals from Casa Cortes. This Coyote is a form of Agave Americana, kin to Arroqueño and Sierra Negra, that took sixteen years to mature, harvested by Tio Pedro Vasquez and made by him in Lachigui, El Palmar, Oaxaca.
The nose offers caramel, honey and ripe yellow apple over neatly folded smoke. On the palate the ripe apple turns almost stewed and saucy, joined by slow roasted pumpkin and warm, well bound alcohol. Roasted in the artesanal style and bottled unaged at 50 percent, it is lively and elegant, a wild Americana agave shown without barrel or dilution to soften its character.
