Peat is scarce in Irish whiskey, which makes Three Crowns Peated a deliberate throwback, Echlinville's smoky variant of the revived Dunville's blend recalling an era when Belfast whiskeys often carried a whisper of turf. It marries malt and grain whiskeys with a peated malt component, in the honest blended style rather than any single site pedigree.

Ex-bourbon maturation keeps the base bright, honey, fresh orchard fruit and vanilla, while the peated malt threads soft smoke through the finish rather than dominating it. At 43.5% it has a little more grip than the standard Irish blend, a whiskey for drinkers curious about smoke who do not want a peat monster.
