Green gunpowder tea is the secret here, lending a creamy, gently smoky depth beneath sweetish spice and a flicker of aniseed and cereal on the finish. Built from 12 botanicals gathered on PJ Rigney’s journeys from Ireland to China, in a gold-foiled ceramic bottle for the Year of the Dragon. Floral, fresh and quietly exotic.

Description
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is the creation of PJ Rigney at The Shed Distillery in County Leitrim, blending oriental botanicals gathered on his travels with native Irish ones and distilling them slowly in copper stills. Its name comes from green gunpowder tea, one of 12 carefully chosen botanicals that also include angelica root, orris root, caraway, cardamom, coriander, Chinese lemon and kaffir lime. This Year of the Dragon edition marks the 2024 Lunar New Year in a handmade ceramic bottle finished with gold foil.
The nose is fresh, pure and elegant, with floral nuances drifting over the spice. The palate is creamy and faintly sweet with a gentle spiced warmth, before a long, lively finish of aniseed and soft cereal grain. Serve in a gin and tonic with a wheel of pink grapefruit to echo the citrus and tea.
